Leadership Development

...teaching ordinary citizens to unleash the power within themselves to collectively impact with shared values the social, political, environmental, and economic decisions that affect their lives...

Leadership Training Opportunities

At the heart of faith-based community organizing is the development of leaders who are committed to one another to building a powerful organization.

To that end, MOSES has contracted with the Gamaliel Foundation, a national network of professional community organizers and key institutional leaders working to rebuild American cities.

Our organization pays the Gamaliel Foundation an annual affiliation fee that provides staff recruitment and development resources, extensive leadership training, strategic planning assistance, issue development resources, and fundraising expertise.

Advanced Training

Advanced training participants are the top leaders from throughout Gamaliel’s network of affiliates.

This three-day annual program challenges leaders to assume major responsibilities within their organizations and equips them to do power analysis, develop issues, conduct major actions, create a core team and run major fundraising events..

On one side is a good, responsible person who needs an organizer to design the campaign, create the group and initiate the action.

On the other side of the line is a person who is an agent of change, a force of nature, a creative center who strategies and agitates to lead others toward successful action.

These are the people who lead congregational core teams, task forces, boards of directors and fundraising drives. These are also the people who become strong leaders within their congregations.

International Leadership Assembly (ILA)

The National Leadership Assembly is organized every December by the Gamaliel Foundation as a way for leaders and organizers to explore the various strategies being used around the country and to help set the strategic direction for the future of the national movement.

The first such assembly was held in 1996, and each annual gathering gains momentum and further energizes the local organizations with the power of a shared national vision.
